Tesla Increases the Price of its CCS1 Adapter

Tesla has raised the price of its CCS Combo 1 Adapter from $250 to $300 in the US ($430 in Canada), making it more expensive for Tesla owners looking to expand their fast-charging options at third-party stations (via @Tslachan).

The adapter, which supports charging speeds up to 250 kW, allows Tesla drivers to use non-Tesla DC fast chargers. However, not all third-party stations can reach the full 250 kW speed.

The Model S/X retrofit with the adapter costs $380, while the Model 3/Y retrofit with the adapter is $330. Owners can check their vehicle’s compatibility through the Tesla app and, if needed, schedule a retrofit service at a Tesla Service Center.

The Cybertruck is not compatible with the CCS1 adapter, and some Tesla models may require additional hardware. The company also noted that it does not control pricing or charging experiences at third-party networks.

To purchase the adapter, Tesla owners must sign in to their Tesla account to verify vehicle ownership.
