2024.45.25.15 Release Notes: Tesla FSD 12.6.1 and 13.2.4

Tesla is rolling out software update 2024.45.25.15, combining updates for both Hardware 3 (HW3) and Hardware 4 (HW4) vehicles, including Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised 12.6.1 for HW3 and FSD 13.2.4 for HW4. This is the first time we are seeing one software version update, combine both FSD updates 12.6.x and 13.2.x.

FSD 12.6.1 for HW3: Key Features

  • End-to-End Highway Navigation: Enhances autonomous navigation on highways (first time for HW3)
  • Improved City Streets Performance: Reduces false slowdowns and enhances obstacle avoidance.
  • Customizable Speed Profiles: Allows drivers to set speed preferences on roads with speed limits of 50 mph (80 km/h) or higher.
  • Smoother Lane Changes: Earlier and more natural decisions for lane changes.
  • Redesigned Controller: Offers smoother and more accurate vehicle tracking.
  • Max Speed Adjustment: Autopilot now determines suitable speeds within the driver’s allowed limit.

FSD (Supervised) allows the vehicle to handle complex driving tasks, such as lane changes, navigating intersections, and following navigation routes. Drivers must remain attentive and in control at all times. Tesla reminds users that FSD (Supervised) does not make the vehicle fully autonomous.

Other Updates in 2024.45.25.15:

  • Data Sharing Enhancements: Drivers can opt-in to share audio data for emergency siren recognition. Audio recordings are not linked to personal accounts or vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and can be disabled anytime.
  • Camera Visibility Detection: Drivers will receive notifications if poor camera visibility is detected. Images are stored locally and automatically deleted after two days unless Data Sharing is enabled.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the company will offer free FSD trials with each and every big update. With FSD 12.6, it remains to be seen if existing HW3 owners will get the chance for another free trial or not.
