Tesla Launches New Model Y in China, Debuts ‘Glacier Blue’ Color
Tesla has unveiled its revamped Model Y in China and Asia-Pacific, showcasing significant design and functionality upgrades aimed at improving efficiency, comfort, and performance. The new model comes with an overhauled exterior and enhanced technology to redefine the electric driving experience.
The launch comes right after leaks of the car doing winter testing in China without camouflage. There’s a front bumper camera which Tesla says helps with Autopilot and Full Self-Driving.
Streamlined Design for Maximum Efficiency
The new Model Y features a complete redesign from the front bumper to the taillights, aimed at optimizing aerodynamics and extending driving range. Updated suspension, wheels, and tires enhance ride smoothness and reduce cabin noise. Tesla has also integrated redesigned body castings to minimize parts and gaps, creating a quieter and more streamlined ride.
Cutting-Edge Interior and Tech
Inside, the Model Y offers an upgraded cabin with acoustic glass for enhanced noise isolation, dual touchscreens for front and rear passengers, and ventilated seats for added comfort. Tesla’s signature over-the-air updates ensure that drivers always have access to the latest features, including a live weather map, Tesla Arcade for gaming, and advanced media streaming options.
Practical Storage and Smart Connectivity
The redesigned Model Y boasts over 2,130 liters of cargo space with power fold-flat rear seats, along with a hands-free trunk for easy access. Enhanced Bluetooth connectivity and improved signal range provide seamless integration of smart features, such as automated door unlocking and clear hands-free calls.
Advanced Safety and Self-Driving Features
Tesla’s commitment to safety is evident with features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Avoidance, and Active Emergency Braking as standard. The vehicle also comes equipped with advanced driver assistance features, including improved Autopilot and Blind Spot Monitoring for enhanced awareness.
You can see there’s ambient lighting and the steering wheel has a turn signal stalk. There’s a “Launch” series with deliveries expected in May for Hong Kong, but March in China.
What do you get with the “Launch Series”? You get special badging on the rear liftgate, puddle light, doorsill plate and more. All-wheel drive comes with Acceleration Boost.
The rear seats now have side buttons for electric adjustment, gone is the manual handle on top of the seats.
Pricing and Availability
The new Model Y is now available to order in Asia-Pacific, with options including rear-wheel drive and long-range all-wheel drive. Tesla provides a four-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year battery warranty for added peace of mind.
There’s a new Glacier Blue color you can see below, joining Stealth Grey (included), Pearl White Multi-Coat, Quicksilver and Ultra Red. Glacier Blue costs the same as Quicksilver and Ultra Red at 14,000 HKD extra in Hong Kong, for example.
