United Airlines Fast-Tracks Starlink on Flights in 2025
United Airlines has announced plans today to accelerate the rollout of SpaceX’s Starlink high-speed internet service across its fleet. The airline first announced plans to bring Starlink to the fleet in September.
The first commercial flight equipped with Starlink is expected to take off this spring, using a United Embraer E-175 aircraft. By the end of 2025, the airline plans to have Starlink installed on all its two-cabin regional planes, with the first mainline aircraft outfitted by the end of the year.
The service will be free for all MileagePlus members. Membership in MileagePlus is free, and travelers can sign up on United’s website to access the new benefits over at united.com/starlink.
“We have a lot planned for our MileagePlus members this year and adding Starlink to as many planes as we can – as quickly as we can – is at the center of it all,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus, in a statement. “It’s not only going to revolutionize the experience of flying United, but it’s also going to unlock tons of new partnerships and benefits for our members that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.”
Starlink will be accessible on personal devices as well as seatback screens, creating a premium in-flight entertainment experience unmatched by any other major U.S. airline, says United.
