SpaceX Sets Its Sights on Turning Starbase Into a City and HQ

SpaceX has asked Judge Treviño for an election to decide if Starbase, Texas, can officially become its own city.

Starbase is where SpaceX builds and develops Starship, the rocket designed to revolutionize space travel. The company says it’s already investing billions of dollars in the area, creating jobs, boosting the local economy, and helping make South Texas a hub for space exploration.

Incorporating Starbase as a city would allow for better services and infrastructure for the hundreds of people already living and working there. Right now, SpaceX handles local services like roads, utilities, and even some education and healthcare due to the remote location. By becoming a city, these responsibilities would shift to a public authority.

Elon Musk also shared his excitement about the plan, saying, “SpaceX HQ will now officially be in the city of Starbase, Texas!” If approved, Starbase would become a city in the Rio Grande Valley, with SpaceX headquarters at its core.

SpaceX has promised that becoming a city won’t affect its commitment to protecting the environment. The company has partnered with conservation groups to preserve local wildlife and continues funding public works projects in the area.
