BMW briefly praised Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, calling version 13 “impressive” in a post on X yesterday.
However, the post was quickly deleted, sparking conversations about the competition between Tesla and other automakers in the race for autonomous driving technology.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to the deletion, commenting, “Too bad, that was one of their best posts!” Musk also hinted at Tesla’s plans for unsupervised FSD, stating it could begin as early as next year. However, no official dates or regulatory approvals have been confirmed.
It remains to be seen if an automaker will license Tesla’s FSD, as the company has long stated it’s open to letting other automakers use the self-driving tech as it will save lives, and can be integrated without expensive radar or lidar, but only cameras.
