Tesla has introduced an optional “Acceleration Boost” upgrade for its new Model 3 Long Range AWD (Highland), reducing the 0-100 km/h acceleration time from 4.4 seconds to 3.8 seconds.
The upgrade is currently available in select regions, including Australia ($3000 AUD, about $1,948 USD), China, and Taiwan, with pricing varying by location. In China, the upgrade costs ¥14,100 ($1,946 USD).
To activate the feature, vehicles must be updated to Tesla’s software version 2024.20, according to a screenshot of the upgrade in China. While the upgrade is not yet available in North America or Europe, it is expected to launch in these regions soon. But of course everyone is waiting for this $2,000 USD upgrade…
Currently, the Acceleration Boost upgrade is available for the legacy Model 3 and existing Model Y as well. This Acceleration Boost for the newest Model 3 (Highland) refresh is what fans have been waiting for. Tesla will be able to gain some valuable in-app upgrades from customers toward its fourth quarter.
If you spend extra for the Performance Model 3, you get Track Mode. Accleration Boost does not offer Track Mode.
