
Tesla has announced it is the fifth anniversary of its Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany. CEO Elon Musk first announced the plan on November 12, 2019, at the Golden Steering Wheel Awards.
Here are the milestones since then, shared by Tesla on X today:
- Over 400,000 Model Y produced
- Over 500,000 drive units produced
- Recycling over 90% of our process waste water
- 6.9 GWh of solar energy produced (enough to power 1,700 homes/year)
- Delivering Model Y to 37 countries
- Over 270,000 trips with our shuttle buses and Giga Train
- Over 1 million trees planted, covering 283+ hectares
- Over 12,000 people hired
- Opened Giga Gym and Rave Cave
Giga Berlin also has its own private 5G network. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Giga Berlin.
