Volvo and Polestar Join Tesla’s Supercharger Network

Volvo and Polestar are expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging options by giving drivers access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across the U.S. and Canada. This comes in addition to other fast-charging networks already available to Volvo owners.

Starting with 2025 models of the Volvo EX90, EX40, and EC40, an adapter for Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) will be included with the purchase. Current Volvo EV owners can also buy the adapter for $230 USD or $310 CAD from authorized Volvo retailers, with shipments starting November 18, 2024. Plans for adapters for the smaller EX30 model will be announced later.

“As part of our journey to electrification, we want to make life with an electric car, including our new flagship EX90, as seamless as possible,” said Mike Cottone, President, Volvo Car USA and Canada, in a statement. “Today we are taking a major step to providing access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure for Volvo drivers in the United States and Canada, furthering our commitment to EV adoption.”

From 2025, the Polestar 2, 3 and 4 can access Tesla Superchargers.

Volvo drivers can use the Volvo Cars app to locate public charging stations, check availability, and pay for sessions through a single interface. Google Assistant integration is also available in the car’s system to help with directions to nearby chargers.

Tesla’s Supercharger network has emerged as the clear victor in EV charging wars in Canada and the USA, as most major automakers are now on board.
