Tesla has officially launched its Model Y Canopy accessory in Canada and the United States, following its earlier debut in China.
Priced at $150 US ($210 CAD), the canopy is designed to enhance the functionality of the Model Y’s trunk, adding approximately 48 square feet of covered space for improved protection from the elements.
Constructed from silver-coated fabric supported by aluminum alloy poles, the canopy offers UV50+ protection and is built to withstand heavy rain and winds between 13 to 24 mph.
Tesla highlights that the canopy is lightweight, compact, and mounts directly onto the vehicle, requiring no ground contact, making it easy to assemble and store in either the rear or front trunk.
However, Tesla warns users not to operate the vehicle while the canopy is in use.
The rollout of this accessory aligns with Tesla’s focus on enhancing the outdoor versatility of its vehicles, adding appeal to Model Y owners who enjoy camping or outdoor activities.
