Starlink Gives Free Internet for Hurricane Helene Impacted Areas: How to Get It
SpaceX says Starlink is providing free internet service for the first month to those affected by Hurricane Helene, according to the company’s website.
The offer is available to new and existing customers located in impacted areas. Users can verify their eligibility by entering their address on the Starlink website and selecting the “Helene Relief” service plan.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk confirmed the quick rollout of the service, tweeting, “Thanks to the Starlink team for making the software update in less than a day!” The update enables Starlink users in disaster-stricken areas to access the service at no cost for the first 30 days.

New customers can sign up by visiting starlink.com/residential, entering their address, and selecting the “Helene Relief” plan at checkout. If the $0 option does not appear, it indicates the service address is not within the eligible area.
Existing customers impacted by Hurricane Helene can request a relief credit by creating a support ticket, while those activating additional kits can visit starlink.com/activate and choose the “Helene Relief” plan. Starlink has temporarily increased the limit to 20 kits per residential account to support emergency response efforts.
Musk also said today, “Had the FCC not illegally revoked the SpaceX Starlink award, it would probably have saved lives in North Carolina. Lawfare costs lives.”
After the 30-day relief period, users will be automatically transitioned to a paid Residential subscription. Starlink noted that it would reevaluate conditions in affected areas and provide updates if service extensions or additional support are needed.
