Tesla Drops LiveOne from Premium Connectivity, Free Music Ends
Tesla has notified customers via email that LiveOne (formerly Slacker Radio) will no longer be included in its Premium Connectivity subscription starting December 1, 2024.
Owners who want to continue using LiveOne’s curated stations in their vehicles and on other devices will need to subscribe directly through LiveOne.
Tesla’s email received by Tesla North stated: “Update to your Premium Connectivity: Starting December 1, 2024, your LiveOne powered by Slacker Radio account will no longer be included with your Premium Connectivity subscription.”
The email continued, “If you’d like to listen to LiveOne’s curated stations in your Tesla and on your other devices beyond this date, you can subscribe by following these steps:
- Open the LiveOne app (formerly the Streaming app) from the bottom bar (requires software version 2024.32.4 or later).
- Tap on the Account tab.
- Scan the QR code and update the account information.
Your Premium Connectivity subscription allows you to stream music, podcasts, and audiobooks from your favorite media apps. Tap the icon of your preferred app on your vehicle’s touchscreen and log in to your account.”
LiveOne announced an amended partnership with Tesla today, noting that it will offer discounted music packages to all Tesla customers following the change. Tesla will continue to cover costs for existing subscribers under a grandfathered plan. Now, there is a basic free streaming account available from LiveOne. You’ll need to register an account, and the basic account lets you have six song skips every hour, but of course you’ll have to listen to ads.
When Tesla owners try to launch the LiveOne app today, there’s a splash screen that says, “Keep this account. Scan the QR code to update the account with your personal email and password.” Once you scan the QR code with your phone, you’re taken to the LiveOne website which offers the following prices:
- LiveOne Plus: $34.99/year exclusive Tesla pricing (normally $47.88)
- LiveOne Premium (includes on demand and offline): $99.99/year exclusive Tesla pricing (normally $131.88)
