Tesla Launches Basic Model 3 in Mexico with Fewer Features
Tesla has introduced a more basic variant of the Model 3 in Mexico, offering a new textile interior option that comes with several feature reductions.
The new Model 3 RWD, priced at MXN 749,000 (approximately $40,200 USD), features gray textile seats (instead of vegan leather) and a streamlined set of standard features, marking a significant departure from the versions available in other markets.
Key changes in the new Model 3 RWD for Mexico include the removal of heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and the rear passenger seat screen. You probably don’t need heated seats and a steering wheel in Mexico, but the lack of rear screen for passengers is too bad.
The ambient lighting has also been simplified to white only, replacing the previously available multi-color option. Additionally, the vehicle now comes with acoustic glass only on the front windows, whereas the Long Range and Performance versions still include acoustic glass on all windows. You can also see the cupholders don’t get a cover either.
The sound system in the new Model 3 RWD has been scaled back to 9 speakers from the 17 available in other variants, and manual rear vents have replaced the previous automatic system. Despite these changes, the pricing adjustment makes this variant the most affordable Model 3 option in the Mexican market.
Notably, these changes are exclusive to the Mexican market, with the Model 3 RWD in the United States and Canada retaining the full set of features that have been removed from the Mexican version.
