Tesla FSD Supervised Tops 1.6 Billion Total Miles Driven
Tesla has released its Vehicle Safety Report for the second quarter of 2024, highlighting the performance of its Autopilot technology and Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.
Omead Afshar, Office of the CEO at Tesla, stated on X, “>1.6 billion cumulative miles have been driven with FSD supervised! On vehicle safety, below is the latest update for the past quarter we have just published.” That’s 2.57 billion kilometres, for metric folks. That’s a lot of distance driven by FSD supervised, currently in
According to the report, Tesla recorded one crash for every 6.88 million miles driven with Autopilot technology during Q2 2024. In contrast, for drivers not using Autopilot, the company recorded one crash for every 1.45 million miles driven.
The report also compares Tesla’s figures with national data. The most recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) from 2022 shows that, on average, there is an automobile crash approximately every 670,000 miles in the United States.
It’s clear driving in a Tesla with Autopilot on is safer than a regular car that does not have the features.
Currently, FSD Supervised is out with version 12.5.1.1. Check out a demo drive below from @WholeMarsBlog. So far, only HW4 vehicles have access to FSD 12.5.x, but support for HW3 is supposed to be coming soon:
