During the company’s Q2 earnings conference call, Noh stated, “We aimed to expedite mass production but due to internal adjustments and scheduling coordination with our clients, we plan to commence mass production by late Q3 or early Q4 as originally planned.”
LG announced back in February it was planning to mass produce 4680 batteries this fall.
Noh also revealed that LG Energy Solution is in discussions with multiple clients to supply various specifications of the 46 series batteries beyond the secured customers, reports eToday. “These batteries, including the 4680, will be supplied from our expanding Arizona plant starting in 2026,” he said.
Last month, Tesla produced its 50 millionth 4680 battery cell at Giga Texas. During the company’s Q2 earnings report, Tesla said it had started validation of vehicle testing for its first prototype Cybertruck with in-house dry cathode 4680 cells this month, marking a major cost reduction milestone once ramped.
