Starlink has launched its new Mini Roam service in the United States, offering portable, high-speed internet for travelers, RVers, and remote workers.

Starting at $50 per month, Mini Roam provides 50GB of mobile data, making it ideal for weekend travelers, backup internet, and in-motion use.

Key Features of Starlink Mini Roam:

  • Compact and Portable: Starlink Mini is a small, lightweight kit that fits in a backpack. It includes a built-in WiFi router, low power consumption, DC power input, and can deliver download speeds over 100 Mbps.
  • Flexible Plans: The service operates on a “Pay As You Go” model, allowing users to pause and resume service as needed. Billing is handled in one-month increments to cater to individual travel schedules.
  • Easy Setup: Users can get online in just two steps: plug in the equipment and point it at the sky. An unobstructed view of the sky is necessary, and the Starlink app helps find the best installation location.
  • In-Motion Use: Supported by Mini Roam and Mobile Priority plans, customers can also opt-in for in-motion data usage by the gigabyte with the Mobile Regional plan.

The Starlink Mini kit easily fits in a backpack, includes integrated WiFi, a kickstand, a pipe adapter, a 15-meter DC power cable, a power supply, and a Starlink plug.

Weighing 6.73 kg (14.83 lbs) and measuring 430 x 334 x 79 mm (16.92 x 13.14 x 3.11 in), the Starlink Mini features an electronic phased array antenna with a 110° field of view, software-assisted manual orienting, and an IP67 Type 4 environmental rating. It operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C (-22°F to 122°F) and wind speeds of 96 kph+ (60 mph+), with snow melt capability of up to 25mm per hour (1 inch per hour).

SpaceX says the Starlink Mini boasts WiFi 5 technology (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), dual-band 3×3 MU-MIMO radio, and a latching Ethernet LAN port, supporting up to 128 devices with a coverage area of up to 112 m² (1,200 ft²). It requires a 100W, 20V/5A minimum USB PD input and consumes an average power of 25-40W.
