Tesla FSD 12.4 Coming ‘Next Week’, Musk Details 12.5, 12.6

When will Tesla release the next version of Full Self-Driving (FSD)? According to the latest update from CEO Elon Musk, that might happen next week.

Yesterday, Musk said, “the latest version of Tesla’s (supervised) self-driving will blow your mind,” quoting a post on X, that re-shared an owner’s experience with FSD.

On Wednesday, Musk clarified when FSD 12.4 would be releasing and now it’s likely “next week” (this is a Musk timeline of course).

“Probably start rolling out 12.4 next week,” said Musk. It’s likely the version would hit internal employee beta testers first, again.

Musk then further added more information about the next versions of FSD. He said “12.4 has almost completely retrained models. The final touches are for comfort, as it sometimes accelerates or brakes too fast for most people’s taste.” This is completely true as FSD 12.3.x accelerated way too fast and also braked hard at time.

As for next versions of FSD 12.5 and FSD 12.6? Musk teased some more details on these future versions in testing.

“12.5 and 12.6 are in various stages of testing. We’re getting into rare, complex situations, for example: going down a narrow, one-way road, encountering a road closure and having to reverse out to find a new route,” explained Musk.

“That closure also needs to be communicated to the rest of the fleet, so you don’t get a whole bunch of Teslas stuck down a road 😂,” added Musk.

Most FSD (Supervised) trials are now over. For Tesla to get people in Canada and the U.S. to activate a $99/month FSD subscription, the release has to be really good, as many aren’t quite ready yet to pay.
