Tesla FSD Free Trials Reach Canada, Subscriptions Start in April
Tesla has started giving out free 1-month Full Self-Driving (FSD) trials outside of the U.S., now reaching Canada for existing customers.
Tesla North readers have shared with us an email received on Friday night, detailing a free FSD trial. This is on a reader that has owned a Model Y for less than a year in Canada.
Below is the text of the email, which you will receive once you install 2024.3.10 on your Tesla:
Your Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Trial starts now!
You’ve been granted a 30-day complimentary trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for your Model Y ending in _____.
Under your supervision, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) can drive your Tesla almost anywhere. It will make lane changes, select forks to follow your navigation route, navigate around other vehicles and objects, and make left and right turns. You and anyone you authorize must use additional caution and remain attentive. It does not make your vehicle autonomous. Do not become complacent.
This trial will end on April 28, 2024.
The installation of 2024.3.10 will bring FSD (Supervised) 12.3.3. In our tests, this version has been a massive game-changer compared to FSD version 11. We experienced many drives that were human-like, with zero disengagements. It’s clear why Tesla is making FSD 12.3.3 widespread and offering free one-month trials–this version is just so good. It’s not perfect, but it is far greater than previous versions of FSD!

According to Rohan Patel, in charge of Tesla Policy and Business Development, he said on Saturday, both the free FSD trial and upcoming monthly subscription will land in Canada, with the latter happening before the end of the 30 day trial, which would mean sometime in April.
“Both. FSD subscription in Canada will be ready before the 30 day trial ends. Thanks to our Canadian customers for their enthusiasm, patience and excellent feedback,” said Patel.
As for the price in Canada for Tesla’s FSD subscription? Patel said it “will approximately track the US cost.” Currently, FSD subscriptions in the U.S. cost $199 USD, so that works out to about $269 CAD.
Did you receive your free 1-month trial to FSD? Version 12.3.x is seeing some impressive early drives online, and Tesla looks ready to bring FSD mainstream. We can’t wait to see what improvements are coming next.
