Tesla is offering up new incentives for new buyers when they purchase a Model Y, Model S or Model X through a friend or family member’s referral link.
The company’s mobile app shows you can get 1 year of free Premium Connectivity (worth $99 USD) when you buy a new Tesla through a referral link. Premium Connectivity provides your Tesla with a constant data connection when you’re outside of Wi-Fi, to allow for streaming of music or video entertainment (i.e. Netflix), plus real-time map updates such as traffic and satellite views. This is on top of 3 months of free Full Self-Driving Capability.
For Loyalty, meaning repeat buyers, you can get 10,000 credits, 1 year of Premium Connectivity and also 3 months of Full Self-Driving Capability. With 10,000 in credits, you can redeem for 3 months of free Full Self-Driving Capability, or get a free Model S or Model Y roof rack, for example.
Credit earned can be redeemed for Tesla software upgrades or accessories within the mobile app. Tesla says credits earned expire in 12 months.
By spreading Tesla’s mission through word of mouth, the company believes this is the best way to sell its vehicles and buying through a referral link seems to offer some increased benefits. You can easily share your referral link in the Tesla app by going to the ‘menu’ tab, then clicking ‘Refer and Earn’ and then the ‘Refer Now’ button.
