Tesla Confirms FSD Subscription for Canada in ‘Coming Weeks’
Back in February, Rohan Patel, Tesla’s Vice President, Public Policy and Business Development, gave an update on Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscriptions for Canada, saying he was looking into the matter.
This morning, Patel gave an update, to say FSD subscriptions will be coming to Canada “in the coming weeks.”
“Elon approved this Canada update and the team is working on the technical and regulatory procedures to make sure we don’t trigger any unintended provincial issues. Barring any setbacks, I’d expect this in the coming weeks,” said Patel.
“I take responsibility for missing this one when the team flagged it for me many months ago. Very much appreciate the Tesla community on X advocating to get this done and I’m excited for more people to subscribe to FSD up north. The level of FSD improvement in terms of function and safety is really impressive and encouraging,” he said.
Patel continued to take responsibility for the delay of FSD subscriptions in Canada, with the latter only available in the U.S. right now. “It was a mistake and I feel stupid that I didn’t listen more closely to my own team about it. We will do better and keep improving and keep taking customer feedback seriously,” he added.
FSD subscriptions cost $199 USD per month, so looking at current exchange rates, that would be about $269 CAD per month. Right now FSD beta version 12 is available for testers in limited capacity.
The ability to offer subscriptions of FSD will let Tesla owners purchase the software upgrade to try out, or to use on road trips to make for easier driving.
