Fernando Javier Corral Astorga, Plant Manager at Tesla, recently took to LinkedIn to commend the Tesla Megafactory Team for their pivotal role in advancing the global shift towards sustainable energy.

He also shared a rare photo of the entire Megafactory team, surrounded by Tesla vehicles including Cybertruck and Semi and Megapacks in the background.

The team has significantly contributed to Tesla’s mission, achieving a remarkable 125% growth in energy storage deployments, totaling 14.7 GWh in 2023.

Astorga highlighted the team’s efforts in creating a substantial number of jobs in Lathrop, California, bolstering the local community and reinforcing Tesla’s commitment to sustainable development. “Thank you for delivering an extraordinary year accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy,” Astorga expressed, acknowledging the collective effort of customers, associates, technicians, leaders, support teams, and investors in this achievement.

With the Megafactory on track to reach its full capacity of 40 GWh, Astorga’s message was one of gratitude and inspiration: “It’s truly inspiring and fun to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing team. WE ARE CHANGING THE WORLD TOGETHER!”

“The energy storage business delivered nearly 15 gigawatt hours of batteries in 2023, compared to 6.5 gigawatt hours the year before. So, tremendous year-over-year growth, triple digits. And, yeah, I think we’ll continue to — continue to see very strong growth in — in storage as — as predicted,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk on the company’s recent Q4 earnings call.

“I said for many years that the storage business would grow much faster than the car business, and it is doing that,” added Musk.

Before joining Tesla in December 2022, Astorga served in various leadership and managerial roles at Amazon for over six years, bringing a wealth of experience to his current position.
