Tesla Cybertruck Crash Ends Badly for Toyota Corolla
On December 28, 2023, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a collision involving a Tesla Cybertruck and a Toyota Corolla on SR-35 (Skyline Boulevard), south of Page Mill Road. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:05 pm, marks the first reported accident involving Tesla’s Cybertruck.
According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, the Toyota Corolla, traveling southbound on SR-35, veered right for unknown reasons, hitting a dirt embankment. The car then crossed into the northbound lane, colliding with the Cybertruck. The Tesla driver sustained minor injuries but declined medical transport. No other injuries were reported.
The Cybertruck, identified as a pre-production unit with manufacturer plates, showed signs of impact, including a deployed side curtain airbag and a slightly dented steel panel. A dashcam video uploaded to YouTube captured the aftermath of the crash.
A Reddit user, boddhya, described encountering the accident scene, noting the significant distance between the Cybertruck and the Corolla and the absence of tow assistance at the time.
Further details from The Autopian suggest the Cybertruck driver shares the name of a Tesla engineer based in San Francisco. The vehicle, registered in Palo Alto with Texas plates, looks to be a Tesla test vehicle. The two passengers in the Cybertruck and the driver of the 2009 Toyota Corolla were unharmed. The Corolla’s front end looks like it got wrecked badly running into Cybertruck.
Tesla’s Cybertruck is a beast on the road and its HFS (Hard F**king Steel) looks to have held up in this front crash. The Corolla looks in pretty bad shape.
