Starlink Kits Now Sold at SM Supermalls in the Philippines

Data Lake, Inc., led by tycoon Henry Sy Jr., has expanded its partnership with Elon Musk’s Starlink by signing a global retailer agreement. The deal will make Starlink hardware kits available for purchase at all SM Supermalls across the country starting November 1.

SpaceX’s Starlink internet service through low earth orbit satellites. The kits, priced at P 29,000.00 ($511 USD), include a Starlink satellite dish, modem, power supply, cables, and a mounting tripod.

Sy Jr., chairman of Data Lake, emphasized the partnership’s potential to provide rapid, reliable internet connectivity globally. Anthony Almeda, Data Lake’s Vice Chairman and CEO, stated that the high-speed, low-latency broadband service would be a game-changer for connecting the Philippines’ 7,640 islands to the world. Almeda also noted that the initiative aligns with President Marcos’ push for greater digitization.

Data Lake’s entry into this venture makes it the first Starlink integrator in the Philippines. David Tanael, President of Data Lake, described the partnership as transformative and stressed the importance of reliable internet connectivity.

As an introductory offer, Starlink will provide a 10-percent discount on the first 1,000 kits sold at each SM Mall location, according to a company statement.
