An unofficial third-party solution to bring Apple CarPlay to Tesla vehicles, known as Tesla Android, has been updated to 2023.40.1.

The update also introduces a new Virtual Display with significantly faster performance and offers a turn-key Compute Module 4 Bundle designed to elevate the Tesla Android experience.

The Compute Module 4 Bundle comes preassembled and includes a Compute Module 4 featuring 4GB RAM, Wi-Fi, and a 64GB SD card. The carrier board in the bundle provides an NVME/PCI-E slot for future expansion and multiple connectivity options, including two USB 2.0, HDMI, and ethernet ports. An extension board for LTE/CarPlay is integrated via a ribbon cable, allowing for smooth functionality.

The housing for the bundle is precision-engineered to securely contain all components and includes a ventilation design to mitigate thermal issues. An efficient cooler is activated by CPU temperature thresholds to regulate the Compute Module 4’s temperature. An external Wi-Fi antenna is included to ensure robust and consistent connectivity.

The update also offers an exclusive native Wireless Android Auto feature, set to launch later this year, without the need for third-party apps. Essential extras such as spare screws, spacers, and a screwdriver are included in the bundle.

Customers can choose LTE modem options based on their location, with versions available for Europe (Global) or the US, each enhanced with two dedicated external antennas.

The bundle is made in Poland, with housings crafted from ABS-Like Resin Material that is UV-cured and manually processed. The company has stated that injection molding may replace the current material depending on demand.

A total of 290 devices are available for order at the time of writing.
