2024 Honda Prologue EV SUV Unveiled with 300-Mile Range
Honda has announced its first all-electric SUV, the 2024 Honda Prologue, which is expected to have an EPA range rating of 300 miles on a full charge.
The vehicle is slated for nationwide availability in early 2024, with pre-sale activities commencing later this year. The starting MSRP is expected to be in the upper $40,000 USD range before any government incentives or tax credits.
“The arrival of the all-new Honda Prologue is a pivotal moment for the brand as Honda begins the transition to our zero-emissions future,” said Lance Woelfer, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in a statement on Thursday.
The Prologue will be offered in both single-motor (front-wheel-drive) and dual-motor (all-wheel-drive) configurations, with three trim levels: EX, Touring, and Elite.
The vehicle features a tech-rich cabin with standard Google built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It aims for IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and NHTSA 5-star ratings and comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies.
Designed by Honda’s Los Angeles-based team, the Prologue sports a neo-rugged styling. The SUV is positioned alongside the Passport in Honda’s light truck lineup and is about 8 inches longer and 5 inches wider than the CR-V. It features up to 136.9 cubic feet of interior space and offers up to 25.2 cu.-ft. of cargo space behind the rear seats.
The vehicle is built on a state-of-the-art electric vehicle platform and features multi-link front and rear suspensions optimized for a sporty driving experience. It will also offer fast and secure Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates to enhance functionality and capability.
Honda has also entered a joint venture with six major automakers to create a high-speed brand-neutral charging network in the United States and Canada, expected to begin operation in summer 2024. The network aims to have 30,000 charge points at 1,350 charging stations by 2030.
The Prologue is part of Honda’s broader electrification strategy, which includes the introduction of 30 new EVs globally by 2030, aiming for 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2040.
