Tesla Rolls Out FSD Beta to Hardware 4 Vehicles

2023 26 11 tesla update

Tesla has just started rolling out its 2023.26.11 software update, and within the latter is Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta, for new vehicles with Hardware 4 (HW4), such as Model S, Model X and Model Y (from Fremont and Giga Texas).

Many Tesla owners have shared the news online that their HW4 vehicles are downloading FSD beta, and those that had the 2023.26.11 update installed, were indeed able to enable it and go for a test drive.

Tesla owner Fadi with this 2023 Model S Plaid with HW4 confirmed to fellow owners on Facebook they were able to install and take FSD beta for a spin.

“I just took my first ten minute drive very impressed so far. The one issue I realized coming up in less than half a mile I was supposed to make a Michigan left turn. The car took me all the way to the right lane for some reason. Then switched 3 lanes over to make the U turn,” said Fadi on late Monday evening PDT.

Now, the release of FSD beta for HW4 vehicles seems to contradict what Tesla CEO Elon Musk said last week. Musk said that HW4 software will lag HW3 “by at least another six months”, adding the company’s focus would be on getting FSD working “super well on HW3 and provided internationally” first. He may have just been referring to the status of FSD beta v12, which is unreleased at the moment.

Nonetheless, Tesla owners who recently purchased or are awaiting delivery of a new vehicle with HW4 can rest assured they will be getting FSD beta updates, which is great news.
