
We’ve seen drone flyovers of Tesla’s Gigafactories in China, Texas, Germany and more, and now we have an unofficial pilot for the upcoming next-gen factory in Mexico.
Adrean Calderon in Mexico has started documenting the site and has been sharing some 4K drone flyovers.

A more recent video from August 21, shows no construction has started yet at the site. But we get a great tour of the vicinity in the Monterrey area, and also some signs that survey work and possibly soil sampling may be underway:
Tesla announced Giga Mexico back in March, with the factory set to produce the company’s “next gen vehicle” which is supposed to be cheaper for the masses. Last week, it was reported that Tesla is in the process of securing federal permits for the site to begin construction. The new factory will be smaller than existing Gigafactories, thanks to a more efficient production process for making the next-gen vehicle.

Looks like the bedrock is near the surface. It’s going to take a lot of explosives to level the site. That should make foundations super strong. Tesla should consider buying land that is flatter and has bedrock about 10′ below the surface.
