With Tesla rolling out Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta 11.4.7 to more customer testers, many owners are starting to notice an improvement in the side repeater cameras, where turn signals are located.

Compared to FSD beta 11.4.6, you can see that FSD 11.4.7 included improved post-processing to show more accurate white balance and crispness, when owners are viewing these side cameras as they drive.

Mike from CyberOwners.com, highlighted significant improvements in FSD beta 11.4.7 in his 2019 Model 3. According to Mike, the update showcases “amazing improvement” in the turn signal camera’s performance compared to its predecessor.

He noted that while he didn’t check the dashcam, the rear camera’s performance was already commendable and has been further enhanced. “Rear looks great… of course, rear already looked good compared to the repeaters,” he said on X. He also praised the software update for achieving “proper color balance,” addressing a common issue with older cameras.

The improvements are particularly noteworthy given that Mike’s Model 3 is a 2019 version equipped with older cameras known for “light bleed at night” (Tesla later fixed this hardware issue in newer cars). The advancements indicate that Tesla’s software team is not only focusing on new models but also committed to optimizing the performance of older vehicles.

A similar comparison of FSD beta 11.4.7 camera improvements was also shown by tester Chuck Cook. “The locations and lighting are a bit different, but I think you can see there is additional processing being done,” said Cook. Check out his video below:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was asked by Omar (@WholeMarsBlog) about whether improved post-processing was applied to these improved camera views in FSD beta 11.4.7. Musk was on an X Spaces and he did admit that software was used to make the camera previews look better.
