Polestar Hits 150,000 Production Milestone

Polestar 2

Polestar has announced the start of deliveries for its upgraded Polestar 2, the Volvo subsidiary’s flagship volume car that started production in 2020. Since then, over 150,000 units of the Polestar vehicles have been produced in three years.

With more than 20,000 Polestar 2 vehicles on UK roads, the brand has surged to be the fastest-growing car brand for the first seven months of 2023. Compared to the corresponding period last year, new vehicle registrations shot up by 174%.

“The upgraded Polestar 2 is the best version to date. With improved software, better quality, longer range and faster charging, it is the basis from which we continue to grow our business,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO in a statement.

The Polestar 2 Long range Single motor now boasts a certification for an impressive 320 miles per EPA. Those opting for models with the novel 82 kWh battery can anticipate maximum DC charging speeds peaking at 205 kW. There are more efficient motors, with the single-motor versions transitioning to rear-wheel drive. This shift, coupled with a rear bias for dual-motor versions, makes Polestar 2 “even more fun to drive”, claims the company.
