Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’ Launch Date in 2 Weeks: Rumor
The highly-anticipated updated version of Tesla’s Model 3 is reportedly set to launch in just two weeks, with Tesla dealerships in China reportedly already accepting reservations.
The latest reports from IT Home, citing the China Securities Journal and individuals knowledgeable about the matter, confirm the imminent release of the Model 3 soon (via @Tslachan).
For those wanting to reserve the refreshed Model 3, Tesla offers two options. A prepayment of 1,000 yuan provides potential buyers with the choice to:
- Immediate Pickup: Claim the current Model 3 version and enjoy benefits, including an 8,000 yuan insurance discount and a 3,500 yuan friend referral bonus. This would bring the car’s cost to a reduced price of 220,400 yuan.
- Flexible Pickup: Within a 60-day window, select any preferred vehicle, inclusive of the Model 3 facelift, regardless of potential price hikes. Buyers can still utilize the 3,500 yuan friend referral discount to obtain the car at the existing favorable price.
Earlier this month, Tesla revealed a special offer valid until September 30, 2023. Customers who order and complete the delivery of the rear-wheel-drive Model 3 and secure insurance via Tesla’s partner agencies will qualify for an 8,000 yuan insurance subsidy.
Additionally, any Model 3 or Model Y purchase made through a friend’s referral will include an extra 3,500 yuan discount. Experts believe that these incentives aim to clear existing inventory, paving the way for the new Model 3 release.
Recent photographs taken by observers show a white Tesla Model 3 under partial concealment, driving in Xinjiang, China, which many believe to be the test version of the refreshed model. A source sent Tesla North the following video earlier this week:

Preliminary details suggest that the updated Model 3 will boast aesthetic and functional enhancements, such as modified front bumpers, updated headlights, and Tesla’s latest Hardware 4 for Full Self-Driving, matching Model S/X and Y. The revamped interior design is rumored to be more streamlined. Furthermore, there’s speculation that the new model will be equipped with a 66 kWh M3P battery, primarily composed of lithium manganese iron phosphate.
Earlier reports have similarly claimed a September launch period for the Model 3 refresh. Let’s wait and find out, folks.
