Tesla Explains Full Self-Driving (FSD) Transfer Rules

Offer opened on July 20, 2023, and runs till September 30, 2023, exclusively for new Tesla vehicle owners.

Tesla has officially detailed its limited-time offer that allows customers to transfer Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities from their current vehicle to a newly purchased one. This offer is applicable to new Tesla vehicles delivered between July 20, 2023, and September 30, 2023, or Q3 of the company’s fiscal year.

FSD capability, a signature feature of Tesla’s Autopilot, offers vehicle owners a remarkable driving experience. However, with the special offer, if the FSD capability is transferred to the new vehicle, the current one will only retain standard Autopilot features. Owners who wish to maintain FSD features on both vehicles can do so by purchasing FSD for their new vehicle separately.

To qualify for this exclusive offer, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Delivery of the new Tesla vehicle must occur between July 20, 2023, and September 30, 2023.
• The new Tesla vehicle must be configured with FSD capability at the time of ordering.
• The applicant should be the legal owner and registrant of the current vehicle, with FSD capability purchased outright.
• Both the current and new vehicles must be linked to the same Tesla Account.
• All additional terms and conditions must be agreed upon.

Tesla has clarified that vehicles delivered prior to July 20, 2023, used inventory vehicles, vehicles used for commercial purposes, and leased vehicles are ineligible for this offer.

This move is expected to boost sales of Tesla’s new vehicles configured with FSD capability, as it offers existing Tesla owners a cost-effective way to upgrade while retaining their FSD features. However, Tesla reserves the right to withdraw FSD capabilities if they determine a breach of terms or any misrepresentation.
