Tessie App for Tesla Brings Phone Key, Watch Key Support
The popular third-party companion app for Tesla owners, Tessie, has unveiled an array of new updates aimed at providing more convenience and enhanced controls. The upgrade, released on July 11, includes several new features tailored for phone and smartwatch use.
Now, with the Phone Key and Watch Key features, Tesla owners can pair their Model 3/Y and 2021+ Model S/X vehicles with Tessie for automatic unlocking and Bluetooth controls. This allows for a more seamless and hands-free user experience.
Adding to the car accessibility functions, the app now enables users to unlatch Model 3/Y doors (handy during winter from your bloody handles freeze!), and open and close Model X doors directly from their phone and watch. The Tessie iOS app includes an Apple Watch app.
The latest update also introduces a Connectivity Tracker that provides live status updates about whether the Tesla is awake, asleep, or offline. This new feature will help in identifying any connectivity issues with the vehicle.
Enhancing the user interface, Tessie now offers Door Control Lock Screen Widgets, Door Control Watch Complications, and Door Control Shortcuts, which allow users to control doors from their lock screen, watch face, and through iOS Shortcuts, respectively.
Climate Keep Mode Automation, another innovative feature, enables the automation of the Climate Keep Mode, which maintains the temperature within the vehicle when parked.
Additionally, Tesla owners can now name their vehicle within the app by simply tapping on the name, provided they have the 2023.12+ firmware.
The update also includes new filter options. Users can hide short drives with the Minimum Distance filter, top-off charges with the Minimum Energy Added filter, and short idles with the Minimum Minutes filter.
For those with supported firmware, the home screen and live drive tracking screen will display details of the active navigation route. Meanwhile, the Time Spent Parked feature will show the duration of the car being parked and not charging.
For a more streamlined user experience, the Disable Confirmation Prompts feature has been added, which allows users to disable confirmation prompts under Settings > Display.
The Dog Mode Shortcut feature is another notable addition, allowing users to add Dog Mode as a control shortcut.
With these and many more improvements across the app, the Tessie update aims to offer an enriched user experience for Tesla owners.
