Tesla has announced a reduction in the prices of its Model 3 and Y electric vehicles in Japan starting this month, marking the vehicles’ most affordable pricing in the country yet.
According to the company, prices have been cut by about 3% for all variants of the lower-priced Model 3, while all Model Y variants have seen around a 4% decrease, reports Reuters.
These price adjustments, unveiled on Tuesday, follow a period of increased pricing for both models just two months prior. The revised pricing brings the cost of the Model 3 to 5,245,600 yen ($36,362), making it even more affordable for Japanese consumers when combined with various subsidies. The Model Y is now priced at 5,637,000 yen.
Prices for the long-range and performance variants of both models are slightly higher, although still reflecting the overall price reduction. Meanwhile, the costs for the higher-priced Model S and X EVs remain unchanged. Tesla began accepting orders for these models in Japan in May.
