Tesla Reportedly Includes ‘The Reacher’ Tool for Model S/X in the UK

The reacher 2

Back in May, Tesla ended the production and sales of its right-hand drive Model S and Model X. The move also spurred the cancellation of existing orders in markets where right-hand drive is the standard, such as in the UK.

So with customers now deciding on the purchase of a left-hand drive vehicle in countries where right-hand drive is the norm, what’s Tesla to do to help solve some issues when needing to reach over to the other side of the car?

Enter stage left: The Reacher. This tool was shared by new Model X owner @Tonywootts in the UK, that looks to have been included with his Model X purchase. The font on the box looks a bit off but this is apparently a legit accessory being doled out to left-hand drive owners (instead of being offered a proper right-hand drive).

The Reacher is an extendable grabber to let left-hand drivers extend key fobs and more on the right side of their vehicles without getting out. This of course is a problem when your driver side is on the left instead of the right. Here’s a picture below of The Reacher in use:

The Reacher is essentially a set of extended grabbers, like the ones you’ve seen being used to pick up trash on the side of the highway. The tool was apparently included with the delivery of Woott’s Model X Plaid purchase.

Now, we’ve yet to see anyone else share their pictures of ‘The Reacher’, but for now this looks to be legit and downright ingenious, but also hilarious at the same time.

Update July 1, 2023: Tony told Tesla North ‘The Reacher’ was included with his Model X in the trunk. He took delivery of his Tesla at a showroom instead of opting for home delivery.
