Starlink Coming to The Philippines Through Reseller NetLinkz
In a groundbreaking move announced on Thursday, Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Corporation (PT&T) revealed that it has partnered with Australian tech solution firm, NetLinkz. The strategic alliance aims to offer SpaceX’s innovative Starlink broadband services to Filipino consumers later this year.
NetLinkz, which has a standing reseller agreement with SpaceX, will be instrumental in facilitating this venture. The partnership is geared towards leveraging Starlink’s low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology to provide high-speed internet access in areas currently underserved by conventional broadband services.
In an interview with ANC, PT&T’s EVP and COO, Miguel Marco, emphasized the positive implications of the collaboration for remote areas. “The beauty about Starlink services, as offered by NetLinkz via our partnership, is that we will be able to bring down the price of internet connection in these remote areas,” said Marco.
Although the final pricing is yet to be determined, Marco reassured the public that it would be competitive, thereby striving to balance affordability and accessibility in regions with limited connectivity options.
PT&T anticipates the official launch of the Starlink service to occur in mid-July. Additionally, for those eager to secure their Starlink connectivity, kits and subscriptions are currently available for purchase in the Philippines via the Starlink website.
Back in May, Starlink was approved to operate by The Philippines.
