Tesla Axes White Interior for Entry Model Y
Yesterday, Tesla increased the price of its entry Model Y AWD and today, it has removed an option for the interior of this vehicle.
The upgraded white interior option is no longer available for the Model Y AWD, but remains for the Long Range and Performance variants (via @SawyerMerritt). Only black is available for the entry Model Y AWD as of writing in the U.S.
For Model 3 vehicles, all trims still have the option to pay extra for a white interior option.
In Canada, all Model Y trims—AWD, Long Range and Performance—no longer have white as an interior option. That’s because these Model Y vehicles for Canada are being manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai, China. By leveraging its Gigafactory in China, Tesla is allocating made in America vehicles for the U.S. market, so they can qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit.
