Tesla announced yesterday that its Supercharging network has crossed 2,000 operational sites in North America, setting a new benchmark in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. These Superchargers now deliver a remarkable 500 million miles worth of charge per month, reinforcing Tesla’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future.

In addition, Tesla is actively inviting new participants to apply as site hosts to augment the breadth of its Charging Network. This comes as part of a broader initiative aimed at bolstering the infrastructure for electric vehicles, thereby fostering a smoother transition towards cleaner, greener mobility.

The first quarter of 2023 also saw impressive growth in Tesla’s Supercharger stations and connectors, showcasing the rapid evolution of Tesla’s charging capabilities. The number of Supercharger stations has risen to 4,947, demonstrating a robust 33% growth year over year. This accomplishment has been echoed in the number of Supercharger connectors, which have grown by an impressive 34% year over year to a total of 45,169 worldwide.

Below are statistics for year-over-year growth that illustrate the ongoing construction of the Supercharger network:

Supercharger Stations:

  • Q1 2022: 3,724
  • Q1 2023: 4,947
  • YoY Growth: 33%

Supercharger Connectors:

  • Q1 2022: 33,657
  • Q1 2023: 45,169
  • YoY Growth: 34%

These milestones emphasize Tesla’s relentless commitment to developing a comprehensive and convenient charging network, enhancing the EV driving experience, and ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future. Tesla’s Superchargers also have an impressive uptime of over 99%, leaps and bounds ahead of third-party alternatives.

Ford recently announced it had signed on to use Tesla’s North American Charging Standard, in other words adopting the Tesla connector and charge port, allowing Ford EVs to soon use the Supercharger network.
