Tesla Stock Jumps After Elon Musk Says Twitter CEO Hired

When Tesla CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter, many thought it would take his time away from Tesla and also SpaceX, which it has to some degree. Musk said he would eventually find a CEO to take over and now that has been achieved.

“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!” said Musk. “My role will transition to being exec chair & [chief technology officer], overseeing product, software & sysops,” said Musk before the closing bell on Thursday.

Musk didn’t reveal who the Twitter CEO would be, aside from noting it was a woman.

Tech journalist Kara Swisher believed NBCUniversal’s Linda Yaccarino would be a suitable candidate, and now the Wall Street Journal has seemingly corroborated that hunch, citing people familiar with the matter, saying the NBCU executive is in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter.

Yaccarino interviewed Musk last month at MMA’s POSSIBLE Miami Event 2023 keynote:

News of Musk declaring a new Twitter CEO was incoming sent Tesla’s stock spiking before the closing bell. Tesla is up 1.58% in after-hours trading. Back in February, Musk said he would find a new CEO for Twitter before the end of the year and it looks like that decision is ahead of schedule.
