Lucid Group has announced that their upcoming Lucid Gravity electric SUV is advancing to its latest phase of development and testing. Building on the success of the Lucid Air, the Gravity SUV is now undergoing public road tests across the U.S.

“I am excited to see the Gravity SUV moving forward so quickly in its development, as it builds upon everything this company has achieved thus far and drives further advancements of our in-house technology to create a luxury electric SUV like none other,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group, in a press release on Tuesday. “The Lucid Air redefined the sedan category, and as our technology continues to evolve and lead the market, we are in a place where the Gravity is positioned to change the world of SUVs.”

The Lucid Gravity promises to deliver a combination of spaciousness, performance, and driving range. Designed to cater to a variety of lifestyles and needs, the luxury electric SUV will provide comfortable seating for up to seven adults, along with ample space for their gear.

Additionally, the vehicle boasts sports car-like driving dynamics and what Lucid says is an unrivalled electric range that outperforms any existing SUV on the market.

The Lucid Gravity will also feature new Glass Cockpit high-resolution displays, powered by the next generation of Lucid UX. This advanced software interface will offer drivers an intuitive and new user experience.

As a preproduction vehicle, specifications for the Lucid Gravity are subject to change, says the company.

While it’s nice to see the Lucid Gravity road testing, Lucid Group continues to struggle in ramping up production of its luxury Lucid Air, as only 1,406 were delivered in Q1.
