Tesla says there are AGI Limitations:

  • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
  • $225,000 for heads of households
  • $150,000 for all other filers

“The vehicle price includes optional equipment physically attached to the vehicle at the time of delivery and excludes software features, accessories, taxes and fees,” explains Tesla.

“The following models currently qualify for federal tax credits for eligible buyers who meet AGI limitations,” says the company:

  • Model 3: $55,000
  • Model Y with 5 seats: $55,000
  • Model Y with 7 seats: $80,000

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said in the past the company’s price hikes were temporary, due to high demand, supply chain shortages and the global chip crisis. High costs of parts and supplies are also a result of these price increases.

Musk said Tesla’s goal is to lower pricing to make its cars more affordable, but when supply is low prices need to go up and won’t lower until the company is able to scale up production, which is what we’re seeing at Giga Berlin and Giga Texas.
