The Rivian R1S electric SUV is fairly new to the market, having only delivered its first units to company executives just a year ago.
A new video shared by Hagerty on Thursday shows a drag race between some of the world’s quickest production SUVs, including the Rivian R1S, the Aston Martin DBX 707 and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe. Additionally, the video includes a Maserati MC20 for good measure.
The Rivian R1S is a Launch Edition, featuring four motors, 835 hp and a total weight of 6,970 lbs.
By comparison, the DBX 707 has a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, offering 697 hp and weighing a total of 5,130 lbs.
The Cayenne features a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as well, offering 631 hp and coming in at a total weight of 4,980 lbs.
Following the initial drag race, host Jason Cammisa discusses how the race went in detail, taking a look at each SUV’s performance. Then, the winner of the three SUVs faces off against the Maserati MC20 for fun.
Rivian faced a recall of hundreds of R1T and R1S units in September, due to issues with some front seatbelt anchors.
