VinFast opened its first store in Canada, located at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, as detailed by the company in an emailed statement on Wednesday.

The Toronto store is the company’s flagship location and comes ahead of a larger rollout of the company’s stores across Canada.

The storefront is set to be part of VinFast’s “go-to-market” strategy, with the company planning eight retail and service center locations set to open in 2022.

The Vietnamese company is using the store to share its VF 8 and VF 9 electric SUVs, and it will operate service on its vehicles out of the Ontario location.

“The opening of the first store in Canada marks the next milestone in VinFast’s global expansion journey. Our network of stores will be key in interacting with our customers, ensuring quality service, and strong relationships in Canada on our journey towards a sustainable future,” VinFast Canada CEO Huynh Du An said to Tesla North.

The store is being designed around the “Future of Mobility” theme, which is focused on minimalist design languages, advanced technology and an overall interactive experience for the consumer.

Future locations set to open include a site in Laval, Quebec and one Vancouver, British Columbia.

VinFast announced plans to partner with CATL on an electric “skateboard” chassis last month, expected to be built using cell-to-pack battery technology.
