SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell to Oversee Starbase, Says Report

SpaceX continues its goal towards the first orbital flight of its Starship rocket, and now we’re hearing about a move that may help the mission.
According to The Information on Thursday, it says SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell will take over Starbase in Texas, the site where Starship is being built. Starship will be capable of going to Mars.
Starship’s orbital flight has still yet to happen and has been delayed.
Earlier today, it was reported that Omead Afshar, a former Tesla executive that oversaw Gigafactory Texas, has been named Vice President of Starship production at SpaceX.
Last summer, Musk asked SpaceX employees to move to Starbase to help accelerate the Starship mission.
Recently, SpaceX shared a video promoting life at Starbase, as part of its ongoing hiring efforts.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been busy lately with his $44 billion purchase of Twitter, with the latter seeing major overhauls. Musk apparently told Twitter staff today that the social network was bleeding money and his recent Tesla stock sale was to “save” the social network.
