Elon Musk’s Neuralink Plans Expansion to 37-Acres Near Giga Texas
Neuralink is all set to be the latest of Elon Musk’s companies to relocate its headquarters to Texas — reports the Austin American-Statesman.
According to site plans filed with Travis County, Neuralink is developing a multi-building campus on a 37-acre property located just 20 minutes from Tesla’s Austin Gigafactory, where Musk currently spends the bulk of his time.
Neuralink is a neurotechnology company that is developing computer-brain interfaces to allow people to control computers with their minds. The venture is focused on solutions that will help people with paralysis, amputations, and other debilitating conditions.
Neuralink’s planned facility will sit in the Del Valle area. It will be situated on Caldwell Lane off of Texas 71, which is near the Colorado River.
Neuralink site plans are listed under the name, River Bottoms Ranch LLC. On the documents, Scott Padilla, a project manager for Neuralink, is noted as the manager for the entity. He’s also listed as treasurer in the documents.
The site would have a 78,000 square-foot building that would contain office and warehouse space. It also notes another 5,850 square-foot vet office, and more building space for employees.
Neuralink is currently seeking numerous positions in the Austin area as part of its expansion.
With Neuralink moving to Texas, all four of Musk’s companies will have a heavy presence in the state. Tesla has been headquartered in Austin since last year, while The Boring Company has its offices in the neighboring city of Pflugerville.
Musk’s rocketry and space transportation company, SpaceX, also has an overwhelming portion of its operations in Texas despite being headquartered in California. In addition, a report from last week indicated that SpaceX is building a new 521,000-square-foot “shell building” in Bastrop County, about an hour east of Austin.
