Unplugged Performance Unveils von Holzhausen Interior Upgrade for Tesla Cars, Priced from $29,995
After design firm von Holzhausen teased a “Caramel” vegan leather upgrade for a Tesla Model S last week, the new product has been unveiled on Monday, part of a custom offering from Unplugged Performance, an aftermarket parts maker for Tesla vehicles.
These new handmade interiors will leverage von Holzhausen’s proprietary Banbū Leather with 83% plant-based content, which offers a 33% lower carbon footprint versus cowhides, and also one-third the weight.
The upgrade will also feature an engraved VH x UP metal brand plaque and “unique patterns, textures and materials as specified and designed in collaboration with you,” available for Tesla’s Model S/X and Model 3/Y, along with Unplugged Performance S-APEX and Ascension-R vehicles.
The first colors available include von Holzhausen Black, Stone, Caramel, and Cherry colored Banbū leather in any combination. European deliveries are set for 2023; customers outside of North America will need to contact Unplugged Performance for details.
To get started with this new custom handmade interior, a $500 deposit is required to get into the reservation line up. As for the starting price of a “Bespoke von Holzhausen interior”? It starts at a whopping $29,995 USD in North America as seen in these pictures, all-in. But “stitch detail preferences, stitch thread color options, perforations and multiple material colors can be granted at no additional cost.”
There’s also an option for complete custom interiors leveraging von Holzhausen, Alcantara and other premium vegan materials to be installed across your entire Tesla vehicle, starting at $39,995 USD, which also comes with special requests possibly entertained. North America build slots open in winter 2022.
“Please note that this program is very limited due to the bespoke nature of the design and artisan production process. Every car requires well in excess of 100 hours of expert craftsmanship. We encourage reserving a production slot early to secure your build in our schedule,” explains Unplugged Performance.
The company notes Cybertruck and Roadster interiors will also be available for the von Holzhausen custom interiors. Von Holzhausen is run by Vicki von Holzhausen, wife of the Tesla’s design chief Franz, of the same last name.
