Your munchies may soon be delivered to your closest retailer using zero emissions. Frito-Lay has announced an electric fleet pilot set to service the Dallas Fort Worth, Texas area.

The company will run the pilot more specifically in Carrollton, Texas and surrounding areas.

The fleet will use Ford E-Transit trucks, the first of which has already arrived, with another 40 units set to arrive sometime in the summer.

Frito-Lay is expecting an overall emissions reduction of around 390 metric tons of greenhouse gases through the use of the electric fleet.

In a statement, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for PepsiCo Foods North America Laura Maxwell  said, “Frito-Lay is committed to having an impactful, growing footprint in the communities where our employees live and work.” Maxwell continued, “The Dallas Fort-Worth community is very important to Frito-Lay: it is where we are headquartered, and where we employ 6,500 employees, many of whom live in Carrollton.”

The Pepsi-owned company is also looking to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, as per PepsiCo Positive (pep+) goal.

Frito-Lay also says it has reached 100 percent renewable electricity for its U.S. plants, distribution centers and offices.

PepsiCo has also placed an order for 15 Tesla Semi trucks upon release, though it’s not clear when the automaker will reach substantial production of the electric semis.
