Tesla Leads EV Registrations in Every State Except for Alaska in Q4

Experian published its Q4 2021 Automotive Registration Trends and Analysis report on Thursday, revealing various trends in the automotive space.
When it comes to electric vehicle registrations, Tesla has a commanding lead in the United States, taking a 69.95% share out of all automotive manufacturers.
As for EV registrations by state, Tesla leads in 49 states except in Alaska, according to page 46 of the report. Nissan currently has a 40.1% share of EV registrations in ‘The Last Frontier’, with Tesla not far behind at 33.5%. Chevy is in third at 15.2% share of EVs in the state.
When it came to new vehicle make rank and market share through Q4, Toyota leads with 13.7%. However, Tesla at 2.2% reached a milestone of surpassing Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus.
According to Experian, “electric vehicles continue to increase in registrations and market share, though 31% of electric vehicles on the roads today came to market during the 2021 time period of new registrations.”
The chip shortage has also taken its toll on the automotive industry, with new registration volumes down to 15.3 million for Q4 2021.
