For those seeking a quicker estimated delivery date, Tesla is prioritizing those buying with Full Self-Driving Capability, a $12,000 USD add-on to Autopilot.
For the Model Y, delivery times can be slashed by up to 7 months on the entry Long Range version, if FSD is added, showing May 2022 instead of December 2022.
For the Model 3, it’s possible to get your vehicle 3 months quicker if you buy FSD, as entry configuration delivery dates show May 2022 instead of August 2022.
The changes do not appear to affect Model S and Model X orders on Tesla’s website.
According to @SawyerMerritt, even those that have already placed orders with FSD, are seeing earlier delivery dates, suddenly. FSD purchases bring profit to Tesla’s bottom line and by paying extra, you get your car sooner.
This has also been the case with Performance versions of the Model 3 and Model Y, as their delivery dates are usually quicker than entry configurations, due to their higher price.
