Lucid Group announced on Tuesday it is recalling nearly 200 of its Lucid Air electric sedans over a safety defect.
According to Bloomberg, the safety defect is from a piece related to the Lucid Air’s front strut dampers, that might have been installed improperly by a supplier.
“This condition may result in a sudden loss of ground clearance, vehicle vibration and front brake line damage, increasing the risk of a crash,” said Lucid in an email to customers. Lucid said it would inspect cars and make repairs at no cost to its customers.
The electric automaker startup based in Newark, California, told Bloomberg in a statement it is not aware of any incidents where these strut dampers failed in its Lucid Air cars, with the issue affecting 203 cars. Lucid said it believes only 1% of its Lucid Air fleet has the part installed improperly.
Lucid Group shares are down 4% on Tuesday, trading at $25.44 per share.
