Lucid Air Dream Edition: 1/4-Mile and 0-60 MPH Testing and Review [VIDEO]
Ahead of plans to launch the Lucid Air in Europe in 2022, Lucid Motors’ flagship sedan is garnering attention for its speed and luxury, as depicted in a new review of the electric vehicle (EV).
DragTimes shared a new performance review of the Lucid Air Dream Edition on Monday, including tests of the vehicle’s 1/4-mile and 0-60 mph speeds.
The DragTimes crew visited Hennessey Performance Engineers to boost the Lucid Air’s horsepower to 1,111 hp before testing the launch edition of the vehicle.
The video begins with a lengthy review of the car, both inside and out, before the team finally begins testing the vehicle.
In the first test, the Lucid Air lands a 2.93-second 0-60 acceleration with a 10.21-second 1/4-mile time, slower than Lucid’s official numbers at 2.5 seconds for 0-60 MPH.
The crew also performs a second test of the vehicle, even improving upon the Lucid Air’s previous times.
Despite its speed, some users in the comments noted that the Porsche Taycan 0-60 mph is quicker with just 760 horsepower.
Tesla’s Model S Plaid can do 0-60 mph in 1.98 seconds and the latter hasn’t even been fully “unlocked” yet, as the company still has yet to allow a max top speed of 200 mph.
Still, the Lucid Air is not bad for the automaker’s first release, as the vehicle is targeting a high-end luxury market.
Even without the engineering upgrade, the Lucid Air boasted Motortrend’s 2022 Car of the Year award and has received a number of glowing reviews from early buyers.
